During my senior year of college, myself and seven other art students had the opportunity to work in a unique interdisciplinary course taught by Engineering Dean Michael Lovell (currentlly the Chancellor of UWM). The ‘Product Realization’ course broke into eight teams consisting of mechanical & electrical engineers, computer science & programmers, along with various art students. Together, our team tackled the creation of a product commissioned by local industries through the university. Our project specifically asked us to make a depth-rated RC servo with the approximate characteristics of a Futaba 3003 standard servo.
